Effective November 1, 2024

All GSAS Operations Service Providers seeking new or renewal of their licenses must have at least one professional holding a valid Accredited Energy Practitioner (AEP) accreditation. The accreditation will be valid for three years from the date of issuance. This requirement is mandatory in addition to the existing credentials and requirements stipulated in GSAS Technical Guide and GSAS Credentials Guide. Additionally, the same requirement applies to Service Providers seeking the “Buildings Energy Label” certification under the Global Sustainability Board (GSB).

The rationale behind this policy update is the need to have a trained energy auditor who can facilitate energy assessment as well as perform standalone energy audits and economic analysis of the proposed energy efficiency upgrades.

Note: To obtain the Accredited Energy Practitioner (AEP) accreditation, the candidate must:

  • Hold a bachelor degree or PG diploma or equivalent
  • Attend a two-day AEP Workshop
  • Pass the AEP Exam

Service Providers and building owners may be granted a six-month grace period to fulfill their commitments during times when no workshops are offered.

Accredited Energy Practitioner (AEP) Workshop is available on September 25-26, 2024. Register Now

GORD is proud to introduce the new advanced web-based version of Energia Suite – a simulation-based assessment tool designed to calculate building projects’ energy performance. Encapsulating years of research, Energia Suite comes with advanced features consolidating best practices from ASHRAE, CEN and ISO Building Energy Performance Standards. With its upcoming web portal, Energia will soon be accessible worldwide for energy labeling and green building assessments, catering to both GSAS and non-GSAS projects.

In line with this development, all GSAS Service Providers will be required to utilize GORD’s upcoming web-based platforms that include Energia Suite, Liquidos Suite (formerly Water Suite), and Arcadia Suite (formerly SEER Tool). These platforms aim to streamline the process of obtaining Energy and Water category scores for projects across Design & Build, Construction Management and Operations. These tools will be independent with flexible usage charges (TBC) and will not be part of the tools furnished with GSAS Service Provider license packages.

We encourage all Service Providers to familiarize themselves with these platforms once they are launched, to ensure a seamless transition and compliance with the updated certification process.
